EVERYTHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ESSENTIAL OILS

You might have seen names like lemon verbena, lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus on soap and beauty labels, but did you know these are names of essential oils too? Did you also know that essential oils have many uses beyond providing calming scents? Today, we are sharing everything you should know about essentials including the different types and uses!

Essential oils are highly-concentrated oils that are extracted from plants. The oil is extracted through a process called distillation and is how it gets its fragrance and other characteristics. At Pure & Gentle, we use natural oils to scent our soaps and shampoos such as our popular Bath & Beauty Bar Soap Peppermint Leaf, which is made with all natural ingredients.

What can you use essential oils for?

  • Aromatherapy
  • Skincare
  • Massage
  • Baths
  • Household cleaning
  • Natural insect repellent

Because essential oils are highly-concentrated, remember that less is more and you will always use less than you think you need. In some cases and especially if you have skin sensitivity, you may need to mix an essential oil with a neutral oil such as almond oil or grapeseed oil.
